General Comments about the model:
- The model will be updated on a weekly basis. The most important column is “OVERALL RANKING COMPOSITE SCORE” currently that’s column L in the Excel file below. Anything positive is good. Negative scores are potentially short candidates. Since there are 3,500 stocks, of course the stocks on either extreme side would be good long and short candidates. There will be more enhancements coming. I am hoping people can also share some charts. I will do my best to share some charts as well.
FocalEquity’s Comprehensive Stock Model is launched !
The model is based on three composite components:
1. Valuation 2. Sentiment and 3. Technicals/Momentum. Charts will be provided by both FocalEquity’s participants and us within the comment section of the daily intraday commentary blog. So it’s important that you participate. There are few if any sites out there that provides this kind of comprehensive model driven trade ideas at absolutely no cost to you.
The top 15 long positions are all small cap names:
GAGA, AHL, NWY, ISLE, PNBC, COSI, GILT, PULB, LIOX, ELY, MPX, CBZ, BSTC, CRK and INWK. We will discuss these names in detail.
The top 15 short positions consists of some familiar names
BH, AMZN, MA, CMG, ADS, AAPL, ISRG, SABA, NFLX, GOOG, NVR, NBX, PCLN, LAMR and ISRL.
I know that AMZN, CMG, GOOG, PCLN and AAPL will generate a lot of interest. Be careful if you are still longing AAPL. We talked about shorting NFLX and the model completely agrees.
Download the file here and make sure you come back to this blog to contribute your thoughts. I am putting so much work into this model for you guys and I hope you will appreciate my effort.

Wow, GAGA has been forming a base for quite a while. It must have been forgotten about after its IPO. I need to see a move higher before I go long though. Also, its a little on the thin side…
Could you start sharing some charts? I will fine tune the a model a bit and start posting charts. Thanks.
Not even one of the stocks I hold is on the model. FAZ,SKF,SRS, ANW, and EEE not there oh well.
None of what you listed is a stock
Anw is
It’s definitely in the model. Download the file and search for it
Every stock in the Russell 3000 index is in the model. This is like a buffet. I would like you guys to spread the word and reignite the community. There is nothing like it out there.
YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. NOTHING I HOLD IS ON THE LIST AND ANW IS A STOCK
EEE IS A STOCK ALSO WTF?
Dsavill, LOL, FAZ, SKF, SRS are ETFs, which I will post later today. This is a stock only model. ANW is IN THE MODEL. Go to row 256 in the excel file. Download the Excel. There are 3500 stocks. Everything you can imagine is there. I only highlighted top 15 on both long/short side. So please download the file and search for ANW. Its overall composite score is good, well in the positive and is worth buying.
The first three are etf’s, hence in the etf model. I’m sure you know that.
Of course I know they are ETF’s please don’t insult my intelligence! I am not in the mood to being attacked I can go elsewhere.
I wasn’t insulting your intelligence, I clearly stated I’m sure you knew that. And I wasn’t attacking you any more than your comment attacked the model. Sun is sharing his strategy and rather than saying, “Hey thanks I’ll look it over” like everyone else has, so far, you say, “Waaaah my stuff isn’t on there” when you know for a fact that the first three ETF’s you listed aren’t even supposed to be on there, and one of the stocks is. It was rude. Grow some thicker skin.
Yea you were why would you even make that dumb ass statement? Please don’t tell me what I should or should not say I already thanked him for all he has done for the site mind your own business. You are the rude one not me and go fuck yourself!
Tell you something else Aaron I have made more posts on this site in the last month than all of you combined where were you? I try to make honest and accurate statements and most of what I have shared is pretty much on target so please don’t get me started I am not in the mood for BS.
Did I put any of that in contention? Though I find your market calls to be more gambling than any kind of analysis, I give the benefit of the doubt and just assume it’s the way your posts come across rather than any lack of insight. I’ve never criticized your strategy.
Dear Dsavill,
Really appreciate all your participation. Let’s be calm and harmonious
What are you, 12? Name-calling and cursing? Good job. And mind my own business? It’s a public forum. But I’m SURE you know that, too.
STFU MORON! YOU ARE NOW ON THE IGGY LIST.
Guys, calm down. Let’s all be friends
Hi Sun,
Thank for providing the model. Lots of names on that list. I think CMG is a good call. Higher food prices and less disposable income should put some downside pressure on the stock.
Thanks Captain. Yea I would support shorting NFLX, CMG and PLCN (Pricelline) now.
Sun, have you considered adding volume as a factor in your model? Some of the ones with good scores have very low average daily volumes. Outside of news events, not a lot of shares seem to move. Thoughts?
I will make more adjustments of course. This is just the day debut. I want to make sure you guys have trust in this site and that we don’t just make empty claims. So it was more important for me to deliver this model. Thanks for the suggestion

Super
Thank you!
Thank you for visiting. Please refer our site to your friends. We need more discussions here.
A question – do any of you know – whether it is possible to get the data for each trade (transaction) – so that it would show who initiated the trade? I.e. whether the seller actively sold stocks, or whether buyer actively purchased stocks. It is almost as tick data.
Some sites I have looked at, show all the trade data, tick by tick (as data, not as chart), how much, at what price & etc., but they do not show who initiated the trade.
Thank you
I think it’s possible but I don’t think it can give us any more useful information than say my sentiment factors. I think it’s more important to look things like short ratio and get short squeeze for certain stocks. Insider buying/selling has very little information in my opinion.
Dear all
I am looking into MRVL, it’s earning release at May 26. It seems finish 5 wave down and need correction soon. Any thoughts is appreciated.
Up with wave 2, then gap-down as RP after earnings release?
Thanks varna2, this is image in my mind. Can you explain what mark 7:1 means? And if MRVL release a strong report, it can also test $21 level, how do you think about this option?
Ah, sorry, 7:2 is my personal way of marking different wave degrees. 7:1-5 goes into 6:1, i.e. 3:x is primary, 4:x is intermediate and so on.
After strong report I would not expect 21.00, but 19.00 is quite possible (there is a quideline that 2nd of smaller wave should be smaller than 2nd of higher level wave).
Anyway, stop-loss for the plan is 21.95.
Just trying to understand why you’d leave the stop loss open for such a wide breadth? If you short today, that’s nearly 50% loss. And it double tops on a yearly at 22.01. I know your time frame is longer, and I’m not criticizing, just trying to understand the strategy. Thanks.
But I am not proposing to short today
I propose to open first short at ~17.00.
Ah, ok. Thanks.
Do you have a blog or only post at focalequity?
EEE did exactly what I thought they would do. Watch it run back to 2 bucks. Oh wait my analysis is gambling………disregard!
If you watch the time of sales they run it up in 100 share increments and then bang out 1000 plus share sells. Volume is heavy and will do over a million shares today.
You say that with only an hour left to trade and it already having done 900K shares of volume. Yeah, rocket science indeed. FYI, you said the same thing yesterday.
Ok.
Hey Davill,
Let’s start looking at some EEE’s peers. EEE is just too small to even include in the microcap category and we all know is going to take tremendous effort to break $2. I recommend you just switch to one of the following names.
Take a look of PCX in Row 865 and ICO in row 1588 of the Excel file as potential long candidates.
As a hedge take a look at BTU in Row 3093 and CNX in Row 2824 as potential short candidates.
Ok Sun I will take a look at them thank you. I doubt it will take tremendous effort to break 2 TBH. Look what it did today. It ran from 1.60 to 1.90 pretty fast. As I projected it did over a million shares which is what it takes to push her up. Back when it was .52 who would of thought it would have gone to 4.98?
I just think it’s a volatile stock that is easily manipulated. We can get safer coal exposure by exploring some larger cap names that are dependent more on fundamentals as well as technicals. JMHO.
Oh I agree EEE is definitely a very volatile stock and definitely manipulated. Stocks like that you ride them up if able and dump them. Should of could of would have and back at the begininng of May “I should have” sold it.
Excuse me I meant to say beginning of February like 2/7/11 is when I sould have sold it.
I have had BTU on my radar remember when I talked about it a few weeks back? Peabody is the largest coal company in the country and I would take that one longTBH.
BTU ranks very neutralish in the model that’s why I didn’t mention it.
Well maybe nuetralish now but it is a high price stock too.
Thanks guys for participating. I will take some of your suggestions and add more stuff to the model and also get some charts going.
If there is high demand for individual blogs within FocalEquity.com, then you will have that option very soon as we are adding a twitter like environment on top of this site. Please let us know your thoughts and needs.
Personally I use FB so maybe a recomendation of putting them both up there would be a great addition to the site.
…………..and yes I see them up there but they are in the block mode lol
FocalEquity has a Facebook Group and a Facebook Fan page. You can join both. We haven’t had any meaningful interaction on those two platforms yet. Also our Twitter has 255 or so followers.
Everyday the posts are actually posted on both Facebook pages and Twitter. You can login into your FB account and join the fan page by click LIKE or join the group and then follow FocalEquity via Twitter. If you can get a crowd going on those two platforms that would be great too.
zSun83 – UUP June 22 call option volumes are extremely high. Can this be interpreted as: in the short term dollar is going to get a 2+% move up? Usually this means bearish for the stock markets. What do you think about the high call volume on UUP?
Ray
Yes that would be a reasonable assumption. I think if Congress raises the debt ceiling and a somewhat concrete deficit cutting plan is put forward, there will be a sustained rally for the US dollar. But again if by Aug 2nd, nothing happens, it could be really bad for the dollar and the market in general. Interesting enough the dollar has not always been inversely correlated with the stock market, this is a phenomenon that became more apparent since the financial crisis.
