It's great to hear everyones feedback on the new site. Craig and I did spend quite some time debating whether or not it made sense to launch a new site or just extend the coverage within StockTock. We had a good look at the StockTock community and found that it's really a niche group of people primarily interested in trading and market movements.

Our objective with EconomyTock was to create a site for a wider, non-trader audience. We want to broaden the sites reach, but not dilute the quality of TA and market related content on StockTock.

As Craig said above, we'll give this a go and see where the community takes it. But, keep the feedback coming.

'tock' has always been a play on 'talk'. We choose to extend that for the economy site name as it's about community discussion also.

i was a little surprised to see a whole new site created and not just a prominent link added next to Stocktock Social above (for instance), where the more investigative economics bugs (who also trade) like mohan (and other members) could blog their findings, and where occassionally we would see the better of those elevated to the main page for emphasis, and to diversify the information stream especially between the sucessive Intraday Commentary(s) which have become the main draw card for the site - the gap between the close and open of the market seems to perfectly allow for some economic speak whether as a useful distraction or for a creative outlet for the rampant intellects that bounce around this place - even if most of the intellect is focussed on profitable trading - anyway i think everyone gets my drift...point is, many sites that have gone with the total 'TA zone only' philosophy are bland, itchy feeling, and often just get ripped off from without anything like the input found here given back to them, where for some time here there has been allowed a decent yet respectfully small modicum of not-rehashed but relatively fresh economic views that afford a sense of balance to the daily slog of trading - it also means there is simply a reason to stay longer at the site when the markets aren't opened...of course i could go on and on...so i'll just say it again - i think everyone gets my drift...

Yea, I realize its somewhat of a fine line, but I think the need to some separation is important. Especially today when economic policy is so intertwined with politics. I do not want StockTock to become a political soundboard, which I think could become a distraction from trading.

If we find the distinction unnecessary or the two sites too confusing, we can always merge them back together.

i would also add that no one can escape the economy, news of it, or wondering what may have just been the cause of a chart moving up or down... the point i think is for the greater balance of stocktock posts and chatter to be trading centric, where during the pauses we take some time to consider some of the events that do, in fact, move the markets...

I agree... I understand why there is a hesitation to not mix TA with fundamentals so to not offend TA monogamists. Nonetheless, me being a person that dables in both,, I consider this to be a an option left to the individual.

As far as having it under one roof,,, perhaps a vote on the matter?..

Interesting, although I don't see why you never posted your economy stuff on here. Its all related as Mohan said. Also what is tock. Is that "talk", or stock without the s? Maybe it should be economyconomy.com
